I played a 45|45 game for the first time. Having the extra time saved me in a couple cases from making a mistake. It is hard to find time to play such long games, but when I have it I want to continue in this time control or even longer.
I had a good chess lesson where it felt like things really clicked in the Caro Kann for me in some positions that I often see. Then when I tried to play that I lost terribly. I keep telling myself that it will sink in eventually.
I started playing with a “burner” account more just to play more games and not worry about the rating. That account has a lower rating to being with, so I also got to play against some slightly easier opponents.
I bought an opening course DVD-rom which I was skeptical of but it is actually pretty good. It is like getting a lesson from a super GM for $30.
I have not been winning many games. This week I lost 5 of 7 rapid games.
I have finding it harder to find time to get in as much study as I would like. Even the simple tactics and AimChess drills are hard to complete some days.
