What went well?

  • I calculated and graphed my average centipawn loss for 2021. I had over 600 rapid games in 2021, over 1.5 per day, which was hard to believe. While my rating didn’t change much in the end of the year, it looks like my average centipawn loss got better over the year, which is a good sign of improvement.
  • I started the Keep It Simple For Black course on Chessable. Still only spending a few minutes a day on it, but I already like the new (to me) version of the Caro Kann it uses.

What could have gone better?

  • I played a lot of Blitz games this week. Not sure if that is good or bad. On Chess.com I played 24 games this week, winning 11 of them. On Lichess I played 9 games and won 4. On both sites I was about even with wins. On Chess.com I’m now rated 611 and on Lichess I’m somehow 1303.
  • I’m still losing most of my games. This week in rapid my record was 3-4-1.

What will I try next?

  • I feel like I need to work on my endgames. Add that to my list. It might have to be part of next month’s training plan.
