What went well?

  • I did a bit better at analyzing my games this week. It is good to be back in that habit.
  • I’ve kept up my work on tactics on Chessable, along with the custom opening courses I’ve created. I’ve averaged about 12,000 points per day on Chessable over the past week. My streak is currently at 311 days. If I can keep up this pace, I should get to “hero” level in a couple months. That said, I think I’m going to break my streak when I take a break and go on vacation in July.

What could have gone better?

  • Coming out of being sick, it took a bit to get back into the routine.
  • I lost about half of my games this week. That is not too surprising. However, I have a bit of imposter syndrome when playing against opponents who are 1400+, even though I’m hovering around that 1400 level. I need to have more confidence in these games.
  • I am not doing very well at rated puzzles on Chess.com. I do not think I take enough time on them.

What will I try next?

  • Find a time to play OTB games at the local chess club, maybe even tonight.
  • I started to make a set of opening files for any “new” moves. I’m going to do this for games I play as another way to learn my openings better.
