What went well?

  • I played 11 rapid games and won 7. For the last 500 games I’m over 50% win rate (254), which is an improvement.
  • My puzzle rating is over 2280 now. I’m closing in on 2300, but I’m nervous to make any mistakes.
  • I made a short list of what I wanted to accomplish each day. It helped me focus on certain tasks
  • I’ve been watching Daniel Naroditsky’s Sensei Speedrun series pretty much every day for the past week or so.

What could have gone better?

  • I do not feel like I am actually doing much studying. I spend time every day on chess, but I’m not sure if I’m actively working to improve.
  • I started playing too many daily games again. I’m back down to just one now. It doesn’t seem like it, but making one move every few hours really eats into time I would spend on other chess topics.
  • I waited until the weekend to do my homework for my chess lesson on Tuesday. I should have spread that work out over the week

What will I try next?

  • I have just a couple of pages in Silman’s Complete Endgame Course that I want to get through. That gets me to the section on Rook Endgames which is where Chess Dojo recommended I stop for now.
  • Keep adding new tactics to my Chessable course (book 3). If I can add 25 per week, I can finish this course in about 2 months. I have been working on this for a couple months and have stalled out a bit.
