Spent a weekend camping. No internet, but that doesn’t mean no studying. #chesspunks pic.twitter.com/l68QGycIMi

What went well?
- I was without internet for a few days while camping, so I got some time to work on reading Winning Chess Strategies
- I was able to slow down the number of blitz games I played. I only played 5 in the last week (vs. 27 the week before). I also slowed down on daily games.
- When coming back from vacation I was able to catch up on all of my Chessable reviews so I did not feel behind (steak is now 401)
- I had a great “habit building” lesson where I played a game with my coach watching. He forced me to calculate and I realized I do not do that nearly enough.
What could have gone better?
- I lost more games than I won last week (8 losses, 6 wins). I am not sad about it though.
What will I try next?
- I want to work on calculation, so I bought a physical copy of Forcing Chess Moves. This was recommended by a coach last year. I got the Chessable version then, but it was pretty hard for me. I got the physical book hoping to be able to spend some time off of a screen and really focus.
- There is a OTB tournament coming up in 10 days. I’m going to try to go.
