I played in an OTB tournament over the weekend. I did very poorly, but at least I was playing chess. I got rid of my provisional rating for USCF, which was one of my goals for the year.
The tournament. I felt like the games I played OTB were nothing like the games I play at home online. Not just the online vs. OTB, but I just couldn’t seem to find a plan or way to win in any game. I feel like I need to rethink the way I spend my study time. I realize that I am not really pushing myself when I study, just doing some light studying every day.
I did not play as many Rapid games. I’m not sure if that was good or bad since I was playing in a tournament.
I reached out to my coach to ask about how to improve my study habits/content. I have a lesson this week
I know this will sound crazy, but I’m going to start learning a new black repertoire against 1. e4. In the past 4 months, I win over 60% of my games as white, and less than 50% against 1. e4. Plus I get excited about new openings and will eventually find one I like.
